Backstage mode allows facilitators to manage Diggle sessions discreetly, keeping certain controls and information hidden from participants. It’s ideal for complex workshops, training sessions, and events requiring detailed participant management and real-time feedback.

Access Backstage Mode

Access from the Builder

Open your Diggle session in the builder.

Click the arrow next to the “Present” button in the top right corner.

Select “Present from Backstage” from the dropdown menu.

Access from fullscreen

Begin your presentation in full-screen mode.

In the top right corner, hover to reveal the “Open in Backstage” button.

Click the button to switch to Backstage mode.

Access from the settings menu

While in full-screen mode, click the settings button in the menu bar at the bottom of your screen.

Locate and toggle the “Backstage view” option to switch to Backstage mode.

Presentation screen

The Presentation screen is a separate display that shows your presentation to the audience without showing the Backstage view. It opens in a new window or tab in your browser and can be dragged to the screen or projector you are using to present. If you close the Presenter screen and want it back, simply click the button named “Open presentation screen.”

Troubleshooting the presentation screen

   – Make sure the display setting of your computer is set to          separate displays and not to mirror your screen

   – Make sure to allow popups for Diggle in your web browser

Menu options

Anonymize responses

This feature allows you to hide the participants’ identities when displaying responses. It helps maintain privacy and encourages honest feedback. You can also press “A” on your keyboard as a shortcut.

Hide login details

This option hides the login details at the top of the presentation screen, focusing solely on the responses. To toggle this on and off, click “H” on your keyboard as a shortcut.

Show QR code

Enable this to display a QR code on the presentation screen, making it easy for participants to join the session by scanning the code with their devices. The shortcut for this is “Q”.

Audience pace

When enabled, participants can navigate through the slides at their own pace without waiting for the presenter to move forward. Deactivate this to move all the participants to the slide you are showing and return to Presenter pace.

Backstage view

This option allows the presenter to revert to full-screen presentation mode.

Copy participation link

Click this button to copy a link your participants can use to log in to the Diggle.

Open presentation screen

Clicking this button opens a separate display showing your presentation without the Backstage view.

Enable this to allow several participants to log in with the same name.

Move lazy participants

Ensure all participants stay on the current slide or activity.

Send notification

Prompt participants with essential updates or actions by sending a notification to their devices.

Copy presentation link

Quickly share the link to your presentation with remote viewers or those in charge of audio and video during a large conference. This link will open the Presentation screen.

Sneak Peek

Sneak Peek allows facilitators to preview participants’ responses without displaying them on the main presentation screen. When activated, the presentation screen freezes, so any actions like moving between slides or showing results are hidden from the audience.

This feature lets you monitor progress and prepare the next steps without interrupting the session flow.

To resume the session, click “Close sneak peek” to return to the original slide or “Continue live session from this slide” if you want to proceed from your current view.

You can read more about the Sneak Peek mode here.

Slide settings

These settings will only affect the slide you are showing, not the full Diggle.

Open Submission

Use “S” on your keyboard as a shortcut to toggle the participants’ submissions on and off.

Show blank screen

This will display a blank screen. Use the keyboard shortcut “B” to toggle this on and off.

Moderate answers

You can moderate the participants’ answers in text-based Interactive slides like Open Text and Wordcloud.

This allows you to edit or delete a participant’s response if it contains material you wish to avoid.

Start timer

This button allows you to set a timer for the total session.

If the timer runs out, the submissions will automatically close.

This is a great feature for live workshops, where you want to let the participants work a certain amount of time on a question before they return to the plenary.

Note that this feature affects the full Diggle.

This timer will be turned off for Quiz slides with timer settings activated, as the quiz timer timer will override this timer.

Add leaderboard after question

This feature adds a leaderboard showing participant scores after each question.

This setting is only for quiz-activated questions.

Result Layout

This allows you to change the Result layout of the Slide you’re currently showing. Use keyboard “L” as shortcut.
